Council members agree Danville needs a high speed expressway ... but they won't say whether Old 97 is the solution.
The 16-million-dollar proposed parkway would run around the congested Franklin Turnpike, taking drivers from the north straight to jobs and shopping within the city.
But more than 5000 people are fighting the parkway, saying it will carry drivers further away from local businesses.

A near miss for Air Force one- as it carried the President over the Atlantic.

But it was just made public today. The Air Force confirms a United parcel Service plane passed the President's plane within one thousand vertical feet and three miles horizontal of separation.
The Independent Pilot's association says that's seven seconds within a disaster.
That is technically a near miss- but the air force says its no big deal. The Air Force says it did change the plane's course.
The incident happened about 200 miles west of Ireland.
