The job cuts will take place over the next four to eight weeks.
Those affected will get a weeks pay for each year of service with the company.
G-E noted this move won't impact its hourly workforce.
With the adjustment it will have a little more than a thousand salaried workers and 900 hourly employees.

The F-D-A says the stimulant-- sometimes sold under the name Ma (WANG) Huang, Ephedra or Epitonin...is responsible for 800 injuries and 17 deaths.
Now the agency wants to limit how much of the drug can be put into any supplement and to force makers to warn that taking too much of the drug can kill.
The F-D-A says people with heart disease, high blood pressure, or neurologic disorders should not use ephedrine supplements-- because the amphetamine-like stimulant can cause heart attacks, stroke, seizures, or death.
