A chemical de-greaser's seeped into the ground in Blacksburg.
Now Federal Mogul is working with state environmental officials to determine
how many homes may be affected.
The chemical, known as (Try-CLORO-eth-lean) Trichloroethylene, or T-C-E, is
used by the company to degrease engine bearings.
It's been detected in a well at the A-and-T Mobile Home Park, as well as a
nearby spring that feeds into Wilson Creek.
The chemical seeped into the ground at a private waste water treatment plant
on the site-- that's now closed.
Federal Mogul is expected to spend several million dollars determining how
far the chemical may have spread into the groundwater.

A recent study in the journal Pediatrics suggests girls are beginning to

Ten might sound young but new data suggest that it's a completely normal age
to begin puberty.
A recent study of more than 17-thousand young women found that close to
half of African American girls and 15 percent of white girls
show signs of pubic hair and breast development by age 8.
What hasn't changed is the age at which girls begin menstruating which is

The question for doctors, educators and parents is when to begin

In light of this latest research some experts say teaching kids earlier may

Again, signs of maturity such as breast or pubic hair development as early

there's no real proof it's benefitting their health.
