was something he couldn't overcome.
General Ralson reportedly spent the day calling members ofcongress for their
sense of his chances but the tide had turned.
Air Force Captain Kelly Flinn was forced out of the military for
committing adultery. Different as the circumstances may have been shouts of
a double standard would only grow louder and the Ralston nomination went
The FBI wants the public's help solving a series of bombings in Atlanta.
They released this letter today- hoping someone recognizes the handwriting
The letter's author claims responsibility for a bombing at an abortion

Investigators released these Sketches- two people seen near the abortion
clinic the night before that bombing.
A happy kid who liked to go barefoot. A good student. A model soldier.
That's how defense witnesses described Timothy McVeigh to the jury.
Army buddies said he was an outstanding soldier and a good shot.
A girl McVeigh grew up with said he was a gangly ninth grader she remembered
as a clown and a happy person.
McVeigh's sister looked on. She however will NOT testify as expected.
The jury must decide whether McVeigh should die for Oklahoma City bombing.

Two months ago, a 10 year old Amherst County boy saved two members of his
family from their burning home.
Tonight, Duane Campbell was honored for his efforts.
Sheriff Jimmy Ayers presented Duane with a plaque for his bravery and
heroism on the night of April 10th.
When he smelled smoke in his family's home, Duane alerted his mother and
younger brother, and led them to safety through a window.

Friends and even the mother's date are in shock saying they did not know she
A Pittsylvania County woman has sacrificed her job to make a statement on
Lisa Johnson says she wants nothing to do with teenagers' abortions.
That meant quitting her job as juvenile court clerk after 16 years.
Starting July first, Virginia teenagers can ask a judge's permission for an
abortion WITHOUT telling their parents.
It's an escape clause in the new parental notification law.

many courts in Virginia as she wants, until she gets an okay.

According to the law, courts will approve an abortion if a teenager seems
mature or if a judge determines it is in her best interest.
But Planned Parenthood Director David Nova, who is opposed to parental
notification, says Virginia's law is still a lot more restrictive than those
of other states.
The Environmental Protection Agency says progress has been made on some of
the Commonwealth's worst hazardous waste sites.
The E-P-A says it's in a period of "accelerated" cleanups.
Among the "Superfund" sites where cleanup construction is COMPLETE, there's
the First Piedmont Rock Quarry in Pittsylvania County and Matthews Electric
Plating in Roanoke County.
Cleanup construction is UNDERWAY at the Dixie Caverns Landfill in Roanoke
County, the Saltville Waste Disposal Ponds in Smythe and Washington Counties,
and the U-S Titanium site in Nelson County.
The state Department of Environmental Quality has soaked up criticism like a
sponge for much of Governor George Allen's tenure.
A top level shake-up is the latest target.
And again, the state's NON-partisan watchdog agency has weighed in.

in Northwest Roanoke.
A ground breaking ceremony kicked off a project by the Blue Ridge Housing
Development Corporation to build two affordable homes in the 600 block of
The houses will cost anywhere from 55 to 80-thousand dollars.
Construction will start in about two weeks.
Executive Director Alvin Nash says this type of initiative is important for

The Salem Avalanche began a week long homestand at Memorial Stadium last

Former Virginia Tech women's basketball coach Carol Alfano has a new job.
She's been named assistant women's coach at the University of California.
Alfano replaces Marie Christian who resigned in April. Alfano coached the
Lady Hokies for the past 19 years and compiled a 278 and 262 record with two
NCAA appearances. Alfano was fired after this past season and replaced by
former Tech assistant Bonnie Henrickson.

of marijuana over the weekend.
Police say they smelled marijuana after sapp's Mercedes was stopped in the
tampa area. Sapp lead the Bucs with nine sacks last year. The tackle's draft
