Last night, Duane Campbell was honored for his heroic efforts.

A Dublin man is in critical condition this morning- after running out in front of a car at the intersection of Route 11 and Giles Avenue in Dublin.
According to police- a friend motioned the 35- year- old man across Route 11- the man apparently did NOT see the car coming.
The victim was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial hospital last night.
The car's driver was not hurt.

In Pulaski, a 44- year- old resident is hospitalized and in stable condition with (Meningo-cosee-mia) meningococcemia.
The patient is an employee at RADVA Corporation.
This particular infection is not the central nervous system infection-- meningitis, but it can be contagious and can CAUSE meningitis.
Only those in the patient's household will undergo antibiotic treatments.
About 70 cases of meningitis are reported each year in Virginia.

A ground breaking ceremony kicked off a project by the Blue Ridge Housing Development Corporation to build two affordable homes in the 600 block of Loudon Avenue.
The houses will cost anywhere from 55 to 80-thousand dollars.
Construction will start in about two weeks.
Executive Director Alvin Nash says this type of initiative is important for economic development and the image of the community.
