front of a car at the intersection of Route 11 and Giles Avenue in Dublin.
According to police- a friend motioned the 35- year- old man across Route
11- the man apparently did NOT see the car coming.
The victim was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial hospital last night.
The car's driver was not hurt.

In Pulaski, a 44- year- old resident is hospitalized and in stable condition
with (Meningo-cosee-mia) meningococcemia.
The patient is an employee at RADVA Corporation.
This particular infection is not the central nervous system infection--
meningitis, but it can be contagious and can CAUSE meningitis.
Only those in the patient's household will undergo antibiotic treatments.
About 70 cases of meningitis are reported each year in Virginia.

Development Corporation to build two affordable homes in the 600 block of
Loudon Avenue.
The houses will cost anywhere from 55 to 80-thousand dollars.
Construction will start in about two weeks.
Executive Director Alvin Nash says this type of initiative is important for
economic development and the image of the community.
