he deserved life in prison, not exeuction.
jones even hinted that sparing mcveigh would mean he might someday
talk and reveal the names of others who were involved in the bombing
conspiracy.
we dont want a lee harvey oswald here, jones said.
and in what prosecutors would later liken to a terroristic threat,
mcveigh's lawyer inferred that an execution would threaten what he called
"domestic tranquility".
prosecutor hartzler shot back to the jury: that's pure
intimidation. you have the courage to disregard it.

he wanted to be the hero...waco was a feeble excuse, hartler said.
another prosecutor, beth wilkinson, told jurors, mcveigh's no
patriot, he's a traitor, he deserves to die. ))
