20- year old Michael Harvey is accused of setting fire to a fraternity house last February.
21- year old Christopher Mirch died in the blaze.
Harvey told a judge he was earning about 250- dollars a week before his arrest.
Harvey was taken into custody while undergoing National Guard training at Fort A- P Hill.
For now, he's been assigned a public defender.
But the judge says if Harvey is able to make bond and goes back to work, he'll have to pay for his own attorney.

year old Sofia Silva and 15 year old Kristin Lisk--were found with their genital areas shaved, a possible serial killer signature.
But Sheriff Ron Knight says making that information public could now cause the killer to change his signature.
All three victims--Silva, Kristin Lisk and her 12 year old sister Kati--vanished from their homes.
All were found a few miles away some time later, their bodies in water.
