Gulf War illness affects as many as 80 thousand U.S. vets, and a new report
says Iraqi biological weapons could be responsible.
A report by the General Accounting Office says there is substantial
evidence linking Gulf War illnesses with chemical weapons.
According to the New York Times, the report, which will be released later
this month, criticizes previous investigations of the illness by the Department
of Defense and a special White House panel.
A visitor to North Carolina's Grandfather Mountain died after a fall today.
Witnesses say 34 year old Anita Harmon was sitting on a ledge near a
swinging bridge, when she lost her balance and fell.
Harmon and her husband were there celebrating their anniversary. The two
were married on the mountain four years ago.
It's the first fatal accident in the park's 40 year history.
Timothy McVeigh spent his second day on Death Row today.
Officials moved the convicted Oklahoma City bomber to a Federal prison
Meanwhile, McVeigh's father has broken his long silence, talking with a CBS
affiliate on his way home to Buffalo, New York.
William McVeigh says it's been a terrible experience, but adds, he was well
treated in Denver by families of the bombing victims.

The elder McVeigh says he and his family are dissappointed by the death
sentence, but also says he believes his son recieved the fairest trial possible
under the circumstances.
French troops are wrapping up final evacuation of foreign nationals from
Peace talks between three warring factions are scheduled for Monday, but
fighting broke out again today around the airport in Brazzaville.
40 people who arrived at the airport this morning said there is heavy
fighting in the city.
Observers expect a full scale battle for control of the airport, once the
evacuation forces leave.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell was released from a hospital in the Canary Islands
Campbell, seen here arriving at her hotel Friday morning, was rushed to the
hospital early this morning for what a Spanish News agency said was a
Campbell had reportedly been involved in a heated argument with her
boyfriend, flamenco dancer Joaquin Cortes.
A spokesperson for Campbell says there is no truth to the overdose report,
saying Campbell suffered from an allergic reaction to antibiotics.

VDOT has selected a consultant from Herndon to carry out a location study,
in which it will look at a five- to- seven mile wide corridor which roughly
follows route 220 from Roanoke to North Carolina.
Factors considered in the location study include effects on neighborhoods,
businesses, historic sites, and the natural environment, along with cost.
The five- million- dollar study should take three years to complete.
No money has been allocated for I-73 construction in Virginia.
VDOT estimates it will cost 800- million- dollars to build the Virginia
portion of the highway.
Danville police recently went head to head with the Scorpion Motorcycle Club
to help out a young boy in the area.
It was part of a softball game to benefit Reggie Hutchins, a 10-year-old boy
shot last April.

Yesterday we told you about residents' complaints at the Chatham Hill
Today, the property manager of the complex told News 7 there was not enough
money to make needed repairs.
Dana Walker of Hall and Associates says the residents' complaints are
legitimate but because the company only manages the property it cannot
authorize the money for repairs.
Some repairs have been made but plumbing and air conditioning problems

Ernie Els won his first U-S Open title in 1994. Well, yesterday he
captured his second Open title holding off Colin Montgomerie and Tom Lehman.

At the U-S-A Track and Field championships in Indianapolis, Jones, using her
speed, hit a long jump of 22 feet 9 inches to beat Jackie Joyner Kersee by an

The occasion is the 28th annual waiters race, which has become a symbol of
