Good evening, I'm Eric Earnhart.
An explosion at a chemical plant shook residents in Deer Park, Texas this morning, and the plant is still burning tonight.
(----------------)
VO-NAT
SUPER=03-Deer Park, TX;

The blast came from a Shell Oil refinery that manufactures ethylene and propylene, two explosive additives used in gasoline production.
Nearby houses shook and glass shattered in surrounding businesses. There were some minor injuries, but a Shell spokesperson says no one was seriously hurt.
After the explosion, surrounding residents were told to stay in their homes with the doors and windows shut while emergency workers checked for toxic gas.
Investigators say they found nothing dangerous in the air... but they're still telling neighbors to stay indoors tonight.
