The space station Mir collides with a cargo ship- leaking oxygen and
depleting 50 percent of Mir's power.
Three crewmen- including one American are on board.

((Its the most serious incident in the Mir space stations 11-year history.

Jerry Linenger was the astronaut aboard Mir last February when a fire erupted.
But last nights accident was far more damaging. It happened during a
practice docking with an unmanned cargo ship.
During the re-docking, the Mir unexplainably lost control of the
cargo ship. The ship then drifted slaming into this solar panel then bouncing
off and hitting the spectr module.
A video, taken by astronauts, shows gashes in the module, a mangled solar
panel and dents everywhere. The collision even caused a small hole
allowing precious oxygen to leak.

Inside that sealed station are several vital U.S. scientific experiments

About 100 jobs will soon disappear from South Boston and Danville, as a
major department store moves its headquarters.
Belk of Virginia is moving its offices to Richmond this September.
Officials say Richmond is a central location with better access to the
airport and interstate.

The relocation is not expected to affect Belk stores in southwest Virginia.
One South Boston employee says the company only announced the move Monday.
But sources within Halifax Regional Hospital, which owns the Belk building,

violence cases are handled by local law enforcement.

The law makes it clear that any officer sent to a domestic abuse call must
arrest the abuser if the officer finds evidence that a crime took place.
The officer does have leeway NOT to file charges, but he or she must write a
detailed report about why an arrest was NOT made.

The Evenflo company makes portable playards under the names Happy Camper,
Kiddie Camper, and Happy Cabana. It says the hinges are potentially dangerous.
If the hinges are not in the proper position the whole play yard could
collapse- A child inside might be caught in the V formed by the sides.
Evenflo and the Consumer product safety commission say two children died
when the play yards folded accidentally.
Evenflo is providing more than one million owners with a hinge cover,
which prevents the hinges from giving way.
The company is also recalling any play yards with cracked or broken hinges.
