Hooper died monday, from cancer.
This afternoon, police and sheriffs deputies paid tribute as he was buried in a Roanoke Cemetery.

Roanoke County School Board members voted tonight to give themselves over a 60-percent pay increase.

An anonymous call from a pay phone last night led Henry County police to a dead woman.
Police found 37-year old Stephanie Parler lying on Tommy Carter Road in Martinsville shortly after midnight this morning.
The Chatham resident suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
Police are questioning people who were with Parler last night. They're awaiting tomorrow's autopsy results from Roanoke.
Anyone with information about Stephanie Parler should contact Martinsville police.

A single vehicle accident in the Fairfield section of Rockbridge County has sent one man to the hospital.
Police say 28 year old Stephen O'Bannon was apparently driving at a high rate of speed on Route 252 when his Dodge pick up left the road. The vehicle flipped several times and O'Bannon was ejected. He was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he is reported in critical condition with a head injury.
