This week it looks as though they'll have to cope with a new problem, the upset bug, which today took a big bite out of Monica Seles.

Seles was the number two seed on the women's side but today she was beaten by unseeded Sandrine Testud of France.
The loss is even more shocking when you consider Seles won the first set 6-love, only to lose the next two 6-4 and 8-6.

A number of other women fared much better including 11th seed Mary Joe Fernandez, 8th seed Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, 9th seed Mary Pierce and third seeded Jana Novotna. On the men's side Pete Sampras, the men's to seed rolled past Byron Black with 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2 victory.
