Valley residents celebrated Independence Day with a bang tonight.
Roanoke's Victory stadium was filled with music, fireworks and spectators.
Those spectators for Music for Americans have cleared the stadium, but are
they still standing in the parking lot waiting for a bus?
For the first time there was no parking allowed at the stadium or nearby
streets.
Instead organizers shuttled in people for the big event.

Scientists are examining the first color pictures sent from the surface of
the red planet tonight.

The pathfinder rover is visible in the foreground. One of the craft's
deflated airbags is partially blocking it's path.
Scientists will raise one of path finder's petals to get it out of the way.

The Roanoke County health department has reported another death from
Legionnaire's disease.
Anna Kennedy from the health department says this is not an outbreak.
She says it has been determined yesterday's death was an isolated incident.
The victim was identified as a man in his late fifties from Salem who worked
for the Salem city schools.
A Legionnaire's outbreak in Montgomery County last year resulted in 23 cases
of the disease, including two people who died.

Divers have suspended their search for two men missing after a fireworks
explosion in Illinois.

Officials believe the two man drowned after an explosion blew them off a
barge that was launching fireworks from the Mississippi River.

One of the explosive shells misfired, igniting the rest of the fireworks in
the boat.
The missing men were wearing heavy protective clothing that would have
weighed them down in the water.
A third crew member was confirmed dead after the blast, and two others were
not seriously hurt.

minutes.
The Animal came in second with 22 dogs.
The new champ says he was a little nervous about winning.
He was afraid if he won, Krachie might try to bite his ears like Mike Tyson.
