Neighbors say they've seen the car speeding down the road several times over

This afternoon the rumors became reality as team owner Robert Yates announced
that Irvan will not be back as the driver of Havoline Thunderbird next season.
Irvan has struggled a good part of this year and is just 16th in the points
race.
Reports of his dismissal from the team surfaced this past April after Irvan
and his wife Kim got into scuffle with another woman outside a Charlotte night
spot.
Ernie, who is now 38, says he will announce his plans for 1998 in the next
month or so.
Irvan has three wins since his near fatal crash at Michigan.
