Three Virginia shipyard workers are dead following a methane gas leak on an aircraft carrier yesterday.

Rescue workers have been looking for the men since the gas was discovered coming from a sewage pipe yesterday.
They had been working on pipes six decks below the flight deck on the USS Truman.
They were found shortly before midnight inside a compartment filled with the lethal gas.
One victim was from Virginia Beach, another from Newport News... the third has not been identified.
18 hundred people were evacuated from the ship when the leak was first discovered, two people were hospitalized.
Workers were told normal operations will resume tomorrow.

It's been nearly a year since T-W-A Flight 800 exploded off Long Island, New York killing all 230 people on board.
Investigators say the plane's center fuel tank exploded, but the question of why has gone unanswered.

Tomorrow, the National Transportation Safety Board will begin a series of tests to find the answer to that question.
The N-T-S-B will fly a similar Boeing 747 from New York's Kennedy airport.
The plane's center fuel tank will be connected to numerous instruments during the flight test period.
While the investigation into mechanical failure is gearing up, the criminal part of the investigation is winding down.
Assistant F-B-I Director Nicholas Kallstrom says the investigation is in its final stages.
He also says investigators believe thay can explain eyewitness reports of an object rising toward the jet just before the crash, but he would not elaborate.

((Construction of the Smart Road is now officially underway.
Governor Allen and other dignitaries were in attendance as ground was broken for the first two- mile portion of the transportation technology test bed.
A double whammy for one of the retail strip centers just outside Valley View Mall.
The Rack and Sack supermarket closed Tuesday night while shoppers were still in the store, apparently a victim of stiff competition.
Then not even 24 hours later, next- door neighbor Crenshaws closed its final Virginia location.
The North Carolina chain created ill will among former Holdren's customers after it bought Holdren's assets last year but said it wasn't obligated to cover thousands of its service warranties.
It was also a fast turnaround for G-E workers in Salem.
Not even 24 hours after union workers there helped ratify a new three year contract, they learned of 160 production layoffs scheduled for next month.
And the Smart Road isn't the only project bringing the promise of new jobs to the New River Valley.
The town of Blacksburg broke ground on a new shell building Thursday.
