Firefighters quickly started working to keep the blaze from spreading.

The adjoining townhomes also suffered smoke and water damage.

The infections usually involved the uterus or urinary tract but also included a bacterial infection known as sepsis.

Researchers now say it's more common than previously thought. The infection often invades the blood and lungs and is fatal in half of all cases.
Symptoms of "Sepsis Syndrome" include difficulty breathing, a rapid heart rate and a sharp drop in blood pressure.
It may be more common because of the increased use of invasive medical devices and drugs that suppress the immune system.

The first round of the three day Women's City-County golf tournament was played today over at Countryside golf club.

The players teed off this morning at 8:30 in a shotgun format.
56 golfers are playing in this year's event and that an increase of almost 20 percent from last year.
Marilyn Bussey has the first round lead after shooting a 75 today on her home course.
But the competition is as hot as the weather. Former champ Dot Bolling is just one shot back with a 76.
Blue Hills member Janet Cochran shot a 77 today to grab third place. She'll be on her home course tomorrow.
And Valeeta Pittman is right in the hunt as well, after carding a 79 today.
Tomorrow the event shifts to Blue Hills before finishing up at Hunting Hills on Thursday.

The Dallas Cowboys lost one of their top offensive and top defensive players today as tight end Jay Novachek and defensive end Charles Haley announced their retirement.
Both have bad back and both wish today's breed of player wasn't so greedy.
Haley departed Big "D" with these words of advice.
