CBS News has learned investigators found bullets of the same caliber that killed versace inside the truck. A distinguishing mark on the bullet apparently made by cunanan himself match marks found on slugs taken from others believed murdered by Cunanan.
I'm not going to go into any of the evidence that we have. JIM AXELROD/CBS NEWS: POLICE WON'T TALK ABOUT EVIDENCE.. AND THEY WON'T SAY IF GIANNI VERSACE KNEW ANDREW CUNANAN. BUT VERSACE WAS GAY.. CUNANAN REPORTEDLY MOVED IN BIG MONEY GAY CIRCLES IN SAN DIEGO. WHILE POLICE DON'T MAKE THE CONNECTION YET.. OTHERS DO.
Maureen Orth is researching a magazine article about Cunanan. She says Versace and Cunanan met backstage at the San Francisco opera several years back and it wasn't their first meeting. Versace was apparently heard telling Cunanan he remembered him.
If investigators can also link versace to Cunanan. That could be the final piece of evidence needed to rule out anyone else.))
