Andrew Cunanan, a 27-year old suspected serial killer-- once described by his
own mother as a male high-priced prostitute.

Police and FBI agents are scouring South Florida... and getting plenty of tips
on Cunanan's possible whereabouts.... but concede he could have already slipped
out of the state.
The Versace murder is the fifth linked to Cunanan... two former lovers, a
Chicago millionaire and a New Jersey cemetery caretaker have also been targets
on his alleged cross-country killing spree.
As one of the fbi's 10-most wanted fugitives.... Andrew Cunanan's picture--
has been posted on the internet for awhile. Investigators have now raised
the bounty by adding a 10-thousand dollar reward leading to his capture.
While he is considered armed and dangerous, Police think Cunanan plans his
executions carefully.... and could have been laying in wait-- for Versace for

Convicted murderer Michael Knowles makes another attempt at hurting himself.
Knowles was taken for stitches after stabbing himself in the neck area
Montgomery County sheriffs officials say Knowles apparently used part of the
wrist band on his watch to stab himself.
He was in his jail cell at the time. This is his third attempt to hurt
himself in the past two months.
At his jury trial he tried to cut his neck with part of a disposable razor
and just last week he tried to stab himself with a pencil at his sentencing for
killing his wife.
Knowles has been transferred to a state mental hospital.

Halifax County investigators say they've captured a major drug dealer after
watching him for more than a year.
44-year old Tonie Richmond of Milton, North Carolina, is in jail on a
quarter-million dollars bond.
Major Ray Link says Richmond ran one of the largest drug distribution lines
into Halifax and Southern Virginia.

Halifax and North Carolina officials stopped Richmond on the road last
night, after getting a tip that he was carrying cocaine.
Investigators seized Richmond's truck, money, and several grams of cocaine.
After searching his mobile home they found more cash and cocaine and
arrested Richmond's girlfriend on drug charges.
If you're not near a beach or a fan... there is no escape from the rising

We'll hear from a Wythe County man indicted for threatening an I-R-S
employee over the phone.
David Bickley says he was stunned a grand jury would move for an indictment.
Bickley says he was frustrated because 14-hundred dollars was missing from
his tax return.
But he says he never threatened the woman.
Tonight--we'll hear, in his words, what he said.
Jean, Bickley's been through the legal system before.
In fact-- he believes that's one reason prosecutors have gone after him.

Though the exact cause of cerebral palsy is not known doctors now say it may
be associated with infections in the mother.
A study in the journal of the American Medical Association finds that
normal weight babies born to mothers who suffer fevers or have infections of
the womb are nine times more likely to be born with cerebral palsy.
Earlier research found a greater risk of cerebral palsy in low birth
weight babies whose mothers had infections--
This latest study is the first to show an association in normal weight
Researchers reporting in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute say
exposure to Benzene increases the risk of leukemia and other blood diseases.
Benzene is a pollutant that comes from many industrial sources and from car
The study looked at 75-thousand Chinese workers and found that those
exposed to benzene had double the risk of developing leukemia compared to
workers who were not exposed.
It may be the most unusual summer camp in America, where kids play and
picnic in the dead of night, and meet other children with whom they share the
same rare disease.
It's Camp Sundown, where darkness means light for these special kids.

They suffer a disease called Xeroderma Pigmentosum, or X-P, a genetic
defect that renders its sufferers helpless to fight damage from ultra-violet
That means most any form of light, from the sun to a common lightbulb, can
cause severe pain and burning and cancer.
So they go through much of their lives in darkness.
But this summer provides a chance to be like regular kids-- going to camp.
They're sleeping by day-- and playing by night.

But thanks to the creation of Camp Sundown, for one week in a summer of
their short lives, there is brightness for these children so used to the dark.
There's a new leader in the Roanoke City-County womens golf tournament.
