Jurors spent over 12 hours today hearing the case against Mary Katherine
Dalton.

In that case, company officials plan to raise revenue by increasing fares or

The Coaches association football and baseball all star games were played
yesterday. In football, the East topped the West 35-10.

In baseball; the East beat the west 9 to 4. William Byrd's Chris Manning
pitched two innings; struck out 4 and gave up one run. Franklin County's Brian
Strong and Larry Bowles played.
Cave Spring's Scott Shirley also saw action; as did Giles center fielder
Chris Hutchinson.
Strong ws the West's MVP.

last night over at Salem Memorial Stadium.

Furyk and Darren Clarke were tops in the opening round.

Tiger Woods' arrival created quite a stir in Troon Scotland; but the men
to watch in the first round were Jim Furyk and Darren Clarke.
Furyk is tied for the lead with Clarke. Both fired 4 under 67's. Here on
14; a par 3. Furyk finds the green on the nice tee shot.
He was at 4 under going in to the hole and his long putt finds the cup for
the birdie and he was at 5 under.
Clarke; a pro out of Ireland; played a magnificent first round. Here on 11;
with a putter from off the green; he nails it and Clarke was at 4 under through
11.
Tiger Woods fired a one over 72 and triple bogeyed 11.

yesterday; capturing the Roanoke City County Golf Championship at Hunting
Hills.

this afternoon.

of a field trip.
They were taking part in the New River Valley's "Leisure Direction."
It's a five-week program designed to help those with disabilities gain
