The 65 year old pastor of Saint Elias Catholic Church in Roanoke was charged
after the incident yesterday.
Father Assad Awad is accused of fondling a 20 year old maid who was cleaning
his room at the Westin Hotel in Detroit.
He allegedly grabbed the woman as she bent over to vaccuum.
Awad was in that city for a convention.
He has been head of Saint Elias for 25 years.

A Pittsylvania County jury today found Mary Dalton guilty of second degree
murder, and sentenced her to 15 years in prison.

The 19-year-old woman was convicted in the murder of an elderly man two
years ago.
Dalton's brother Paul was convicted of killing Aubrey Atkins, but he
testified that he confessed only to protect his sister.
Mary Dalton was also found guilty of illegal use of a firearm, and accessory
to robbery.

It's been in effect for less than a month, but a judge has already issued a
waiver to Virginia's parental notification law.
The Richmond Times Dispatch says a 17 year old girl told a judge in
Charlottesville she did not want to tell her parents she wanted an abortion
"because they would kill her if they found out."
The judge ruled yesterday the girl would not have to notify her parents.
Officials said the teenager has not yet had the procedure.
Locally David Nova of Planned Parenthood of the Blue Ridge says his group
has discussed the judicial waiver provision of the law with several clients.
But Nova says so far, none of his clients has applied for it.
