But residents argued a store would entice students to cross the busy street.

(( Former Ferrum College linebacker Jim Kitts is back in Frostburg this summer
trying to prove that there's still a place in the NFL for longshots.
Kitts, who was also in camp last year playing defense, is trying to make the
team as a fullback this summer.
And his good hands and the "No Fear" attitude he possess while playing
special teams are at the very least earning him a look from General manager
Charley Casserly.

Although he's three years older Kitts, former UVa star lineman Don Reynolds
isn't ready to give up the pursuit of his dream either.
The Axton native, who played at Laurel Park high school, has been in camp
with the Falcons, Lions, Patriots and Redskins since leaving Virginia in 1991
but he's yet to make it.

Without a doubt former UVa star Ryan Kuehl has the best chance of making the
team. The 1994 UVa graduate was on the Skins practice squad last season, and
actually joined the active roster for two games.

This year he brings those three features to not only his defensive tackle
spot but also to special teams where he is a backup long snapper.
And through it all, Kuehl has managed to maintain his outrageous sense of

More local star athletes were in the spotlight last night at the Roanoke
County Board of supervisors meeting.
The supervisor honored one of its own in Spike Harrison coach of the Group A
State champion Glenvar Girls softball team, Rodney Spradlin's Group Two
champion William Byrd baseball team was also recognized along with and the
Terriers State Championship creative writing team.

par 64 this afternoon at Countryside.
He was five under par at the 12-th hole, and he finished the tournament with
a 131 two day total for a 10-shot win in the Senior Division.
Darryl Byrd shot a two under par 69 today to finish 36 holes at 141 in
second place.
