The Blue Ridge residents are going to court Thursday to obtain a restraining
order against the closure.
Autumn Lane residents are putting the city government on notice.
They say Roanoke officials took too long to correct problems with a
construction site in their neighborhood.
City officials spent the morning touring what's left of contractor Phillip
Bane planned to put 11 homes on this land, but officials say his
inexperience led to violations and put an end to the development.
Now Autumn Lane residents are forming a city-wide action group to help other
neighborhoods which may face similar problems.

The city says it'll make repairs to Autumn Lane this weekend.
Trees and more grass will be planted on the site in the fall.
Pittsylvania County supervisors are discouraging a large-scale hog farm from
moving into the county.
But their resolution can't block it, because of the Right to Farm Act.
The 1994 Virginia Act allows ANY size farm to operate on any agricultural
land... no special use permit or public hearing is required.
So the legislation leaves the door wide open for ten thousand hogs.

The Pentagon is now admitting many more American soldiers than originally
thought---were exposed to poison gas during the Persian Gulf War.
Officials say about 100-thousand inhaled the gas...that's five times the
Pentagon's earlier estimate.
But they say -- the exposure was so minimal-- they still don't believe the
gas is related to so-called "gulf war" Syndrome.
It was just a year ago that the Pentagon admitted ANY U-S troops had
been exposed to toxic chemicals.
The Scottish researchers who brought us Dolly, the world's first cloned
animal-- have done it again.
This time, five times over.
They've made five virtually identical sheep-- but this time they contain
They are carbon copies of animals genetically engineered to produce
therapeutic human proteins.
Her creators won't say what Polly-- produces-- but other sheep the company
has engineered make proteins to treat cystic fibrosis, and products that both
promote and inhibit blood clotting.
According to one American expert, today's announcement holds great promise.

famer Sam Mills.
When he's not in awe of his surroundings, Waverly has impressed Panther
coaches at defensive tackle.
Newsome wore #53 at Tech while Jackson was 98. The pair has heart, a huge

First we start in San Francisco, where shoppers at Macy's on Union Square
were greeted with protestors.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals-- showed up with graphic
pictures, some of them wore fake furs and sat locked up in small cages.
The group says that's how animals are treated at fur farms...

But a society there is demanding a government ban on ostrich racing-- saying
