A strike was averted when Union leaders and Yokohama management reached a
last minute agreement in the wee hours of the morning.

Two explosions ripped through a crowded Jerusalem market this morning
killing 13 and injuring more than 150.
Among the dead are the two people who carried the bombs.

More frustration ahead for federal prosecutors investigating last year's
truck bombing at a U-S military base in Saudi Arabia that killed 19 airmen.
In a Washington courtroom this morning, Hani Al- Sayegh (HAH'-nee
ahl-say-YEHR') pleaded innocent in a plot to kill Americans.
He'd been brought to the U-S from Canada in June after reaching a deal with

In return, he was indicted on just one count in a separate bomb plot that
was never carried out.
The search has resumed for more victims of a flash flood in Fort Collins,

Police say Cornelius Peerman was riding his bike along route 6-40 in
Pittsylvania County, when he was hit head-on by a pick-up truck.
Peerman was dead at the scene.

pick-up will face charges.
Civil Rights pioneer Rosa Parks is in Richmond visiting the victims of
yesterday's bus accident.
The bus was loaded with

The crash killed a man Parks says was like a grandson to her.
Thirty-four others were injured, four of them seriously.

The appeals court said NOT just sexual orientation -- should be considered

Italian officials say the body of executed killer Joseph O'Dell will be
buried in the city of Palermo tomorrow.
O'Dell was executed last week for raping and murdering a Virginia Beach
woman in 19-85.
His case prompted a media campaign in Italy against the death penalty and
drew the attention of the Pope, Mother Theresa and Italian lawmakers.
The body will be buried in Palermo's oldest cemetery-- the resting place of
victims of the Sicilian Mafia and assassinated mobsters.
One of the Roanoke Valley's leading poverty fighting groups is now fighting
an additional battle.
TAP or Total Action Against Poverty is struggling for funding due to recent
state, federal and foundation cutbacks.
Agency officials are looking to new fundraising efforts.
The organization is shifting it's focus to the local community.
Board members say educating the public about TAP's accomplishments is the
key to getting them to open their wallets.

The latest statewide survey conducted for News 7 by Mason-Dixon Political
Research shows the race for governor continues to be a dead heat.
Since the last poll in May Don Beyer picked up one point from the ranks of
the UN-decided, but Jim Gilmore still has a one-point lead.
Forty-three percent of those polled said they would vote for Gilmore- -if
the election were held today.
Forty-TWO picked Beyer.
There's a margin of error of three and a half points.
