A Federal investigator says its too early to determine what caused a Federal
plane to flip on its back and burst into flames.
Amazingly the five people on board managed to scramble out through a cockpit

Virginia has another connection to Paula Jones' sexual harassment lawsuit
against the President.
Former attorney general candidate Gil Davis is one of Jones's lawyers.
Now, Davis and his team have subpoenaed Richmond area resident Kathleen
Willey to give a deposition in the case.
Willey's the daughter-in-law of former Democratic state senator Ed Willey.
She worked as a social secretary in the Clinton White House in 1993.
Jones's attorneys allege that Willey was herself sexually harassed by

she's outraged by the attempt to involve her in the Paula Jones suit, and that

A suspected drug dealer and convicted felon may have a hard time staying on
the run from police.
31-year-old Kenny Gray weighs 700 pounds and lives in a double wide mobile
home in Bassett.
He was scheduled to face cocaine and gun charges in Roanoke federal court on
Wednesday, but never showed up.
Henry County Sheriff Frank Cassell says Gray drives a Ford Bronco custom
made with a small steering wheel to fit him.
The sheriff says Gray may head to New York, but thinks he's probably holed
up in Henry County.
Big bank mergers in Virginia mean big costs to customers.
That's the word today from the U.S. Public Interest Research Group and the
Virginia Citizens Consumer Council.
A new study shows the bigger the bank, the larger the fees customers pay.
So recent mergers with Virginia banks may mean bigger fees in Virginia ...

The Virginia Citizens Consumer Council has this advice:

A letter-writing campaign by farmers to change inheritance tax legislation
has had limited success.
Passage of the balanced budget bill means changes in the total tax exemption
farmers are allowed when their family business is passed down from one
generation to the next.
Farmers have complained the inheritance tax is a burden and sometimes drives
a family out of the business.
New legislation will eventually increase the previous 600-thousand dollar
exemption to one-point-three million dollars.
But, some area farmers fear it's too little too late.

Terp is challenging Johnson in this fall's election.
Bus drivers for the Roanoke Valley's public transportation agency are now
working under a temporary contract.
Valley Metro General Manager Kathy Weikel says both management and the union
have agreed to extend the terms of the old contract while they continue talks
to iron-out a new one.
The most recent contract expired at least three weeks ago.
A joint statement about the status of the talks is expected next week.
A new long-term health care facility is in the works for the Montgomery
Officials with Warm Hearth Village say the facility, opening in the Summer

ended in tragedy this week.

It all started over a lawnmower-- allegedly stolen by the 24 year old
driver of this pick-up, and his passenger.
The camera recording this chase is on the dash of a Des Moines police
deputy's car-- tailing the suspects.
Until the driver pulled out in front of a truck.
THAT is what an accident looks like.
Both the driver and his passenger-- a 30-year-old woman, were killed.

Busch Pole Qualifying at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway turned into a
record breaking event.
Ernie Irvan captured the pole after and recorded the fasts Winston Cup lap
at the 2.5 mile track..

Points leader Jeff Gordon, who has won the past two poles at Indy, had a
decent qualifying run, but would fall back to 24th when the first day was done.
Thanks to drivers like Darrell Waltrip. DW put the Western Auto Chevrolet on

Dale Jarrett then shuffled DW to the side.; knocked DW off the top spot with a

The San Francisco 49ers have come to terms with their top draft pick.
This morning former Virginia tech quarterback Jim Druckenmiller signed a 6
year deal worth over 5 and a half million dollars.
