An extensive search for two Roanoke girls ended early this morning when they
turned up in Lynchburg.
The mother of one of the girls, Patricia Wright says she left the two in the
car last night when she went into Cory Everson's Workout Center in Roanoke
When Wright returned, her car was gone and so were they.

It turns out eleven- year- old Latisha Wright did take the wheel.
Police say she drove herself and seven- year- old Shakierra Mack to a
relative's home in Lynchburg, where they were found early this morning.
Roanoke county police are investigating, and charges are pending.
There continues to be conflicting figures this afternoon on the number of
survivors from yesterday's Korean Air crash in Guam.
The latest reports indicate that there are between 28 and 30 survivors.
254 were aboard the Boeing 7-47 when it went down during a heavy rainstorm
just three miles from the airport.

The tobacco industry has lost its battle to keep internal documents secret.
Eight documents, some dating back more than 30 years, were released today in
connection with Florida's lawsuit against the tobacco industry.
The state of Florida says the documents show that the cigarette
makers conspired to hide the dangers of smoking.
The state is trying to recover the costs of treating smoking-related
Teamsters are back on the picket line for a third day in their strike
against the United Parcel Service.
The union says it makes sense to get back to the bargaining table but the
company says it has made its final offer.
Tensions continue to grow at some U-P-S facilities.
Yesterday, several striking workers were arrested at sites around the
country and there were angry confrontations at others.
In southwest Virginia warehouse managers are turning to other carriers to
ship their goods.
At the Orvis warehouse, they process more than SIX-thousand packages a day.
About one quarter of the out-bound packages used to be shipped by U-P-S.
The manager says so far, he's been able to shift the load over to other
carriers such as Federal Express.

A Boy Scout Jamboree in Northern Virginia was marred by tragedy when a scout
died after he was crushed by a Humvee.
State police say 16- year- old Robert Combes of Finleyville, Pennsylvania
was driving on a gravel road when he lost control of the military vehicle.
A Boy Scouts spokesperson says Combes only had a learners permit and was too

settlement until September.
Teenagers may be saying NO to drugs more often than they used to.
A new government study says illegal
drug use by teens dropped from 11 percent in 19-95 to nine percent in 19-96,
that's the first decline since 19-92.
But the abuse rate is still much higher than in 19-92.
And experts caution against reading too much into the drop.
