Police say a man came up behind her and shot her repeatedly in the head,

controlled than expected.

says he was fired this summer because he is African American.
The June 12th dismissal of Christopher Divers left the 17-person Vinton
police force with one black officer.
Police Chief Riley Foutz declined to discuss the firing but said a
citizen filed a complaint against Divers.
Divers has filed a wrongful termination complaint with the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission and has filed a grievance with the town.
