Sources say negotiators for UPS and the Teamsters reached a tentative
contract agreement tonight.
The deal could mean the end of a strike by 185 thousand workers- that
disrupted package deliveries nationwide.

Josiah Bunting is confident that the new class of cadets has all those
attributes.
He says they would not have been admitted otherwise.

The new arrivals might have been forgiven some anxiety on their first day.
The Superintendent had reacted with what he termed "savage disappointment"
the day the U-S Supreme Court said V-M-I could not remain all male and still
receive state funds.
A little more than one year later, here were 30 women talking their places
among 465 cadets seeking an education at this VERY military institution.

A potentially dangerous situation on the space station Mir is improving.

Earlier today the stations main computer failed, causing the station to
rotate "chaotically" in orbit.
Mir's solar panels, which provide power to the station, lost their
orientation to the sun.
NASA says cosmonauts used thrusters on a docked Russian space capsule to
regain control of the station.
The stations main oxygen generator was shut down to conserve power, but
officials say the station has enough oxygen to last several days.
Flight controllers don't know what caused the computer failure.

killing all 110 people on board.
Oxygen generators improperly stored in the cargo hold are thought to be the
cause.
Published reports say the N-T-S-B will be critical of the F-A-A, Valujet,
and Sabretech, the company that allegedly put the oxygen generators on the
plane.
Last week Valujet said Sabretech put the generators on the plane on purpose,
trying to clean up it's warehouse.
Sabretech called the statement smokescreen to cover up Valujet's ineptitude.

breast implants from women and their doctors.

The suit was filed on behalf of 18-hundred women who said silicone leaked

Former Liberty coach Mike Scharnus takes over for the Devils who return a
solid nucleus from last year's squad that went just 3 and 7.
Rustburg scrimmaged Amherst last Friday, and will open the season at
Martinsville. With only 33 players suited up this preseason, Scharnus realizes
the challenge ahead.

The Stones rolled across the Brooklyn Bridge today to announce their Bridges
to Babylon Tour.
The band will kick off the U-S tour September 23 in Chicago.
They're planning a wide variety of venues including small clubs, arenas,
theaters and stadiums.
The closest concert scheduled for our area is October 23 in Washington D-C.
