The campus of V-M-I is getting crowded as 31 women make history as they
become cadets.
But the women are not the only new people on campus.

V-M-I officials are expecting nearly one hundred and fifty newspeople on post
to greet the school's first female students.
They have been preparing for this frenzy since February.
But the school has been preparing for the first female cadets for more than

group of alumni have decided to start their own all male Christian military
college.
The group plans to start what it calls the Southern Military Institute by
the year 2004.
Start up costs would be about 100 million dollars.
Organizers are looking at a possible location in northern Alabama.
