The Health Department cited Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital for staffing
violations in one of its nurseries.

Officials conducted a surprise inspection in April after several nurses
complained.
They found staffing shortages existed on 34 days in the Intermediate Care
Nursery.
They also found nurses walking past dirty equipment in the nursery, which
was not covered or stored in a protected environment.
The head of the department says these are minor infractions, and the
problems have been solved.
