Officer Dewey Hancock, Junior shot and killed the shoplifting suspect after an altercation in a store parking lot.
Hancock is white; the suspect was black.
Executive Director of C-PAC Reverend Thomas Motley says this is the latest in a long line of incidents where police have gone too far in trying to make an arrest.
Motley says his group is calling for the resignation of Danville Police Chief Neal Morris.

While riding in an inner tube, a Staunton man was sucked into the propeller of the boat pulling him along.
The accident happened last night near Parkersburg, West Virginia.
He has since undergone surgery.
Authorities are withholding the name of the 39- year- old man until his family is notified.
A conservation officer with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources said the accident occurred on the Ohio River.
