Good Evening, I'm Connie Stevens, sitting in tonight for Jean Jadhon.
Mother Teresa died today in Calcutta after years of illnesses

She was 87 years old.

woman many people considered a living Saint.

It was just Sunday a very frail Mother Teresa expressed her sadness about
the death of Princess Diana.
MOTHER TERESA: SHE HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR THE POOR.
She could have been talking about herself.
The eighty-seven year old Roman
Catholic nun devoted her life to helping the downtrodden, winning the Nobel
Peace Prize in 1979 for her service to the poor.
PRESIDENT CLINTON: LIKE EVERYONE WHO EVER MET HER I WAS PROFOUNDLY MOVED BY HER
CONVICTION.
Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity, a religious order whose
members comforted the destitute, sheltered abandoned infants, soothed the
ulcers of lepers and took care of the insane.
She created a global network for
the poor, including one of the first homes for AIDS victims. Sisters of
Charity around the world prayed for her soul.
Hers was a powerful voice for conservative values. She travelled as an
envoy for Pope John Paul ll, arguing passionately against abortion,
contraception and divorce.
Mother Teresa had heart problems for many years, yet the news of her death,
just days after Princess Diana's, left admirers around the world stunned.
Less than three months ago, the two women met in New York and shared their
common interest in aiding people who needed help.

WHAT I SAY TO YOU KNOW AS YOUR QUEEN AND A GRANDMOTHER I SAY FROM MY HEART.

Queen Elizabeth's words-- marked a moment in history... only once before has a
monarch addressed the british public live on television... but then, perhaps
never before has there been an outpouring-- an outcry like the one following
Princess Diana's sudden death last weekend.
QUEEN ELIZABETH: I FOR ONE BELIEVE THERE ARE LESSONS TO BE DRAWN FROM HER LIFE
AND FROM THE EXTRAORDINARY AND MOVING REACTION TO HER DEATH.
The lessons: the royal family can no longer remain aloof and inaccessible.
Diana changed the face of royalty in this country forever.
At Kensington Palace where the Princess lived, her sons, Prince William and
Prince Harry joined their father greeting an eager and loving public....
anxious to console them.
And just one day before the princess is to be buried-- Dodi Al Fayed's
father released surveillance video of the couple's final moments alive...
leaving the Ritz Hotel in Paris to go on that fatefull car ride.
Today it was a hearse that transported diana's body back to Kensington
