People around the world joined the British in bidding a final farewell to
Princess Diana today.
In a somber but moving ceremony, friends, families, and well-wishers
remembered the princess at her funeral and private burial.
Among the many who spoke at the funeral, was Diana's brother who delivered a
stinging attack at the royal family and the media.
Tributes to Diana also included a new version of the song "Candle In the
Wind" by Elton John.
There are also reports that Diana was laid to rest with a rosary given to
her by Mother Teresa shortly before the nun's death Friday.
She was also apparently buried in a black dress

The British were not the only ones expressing their sadness over the loss of
Here in Southwest Virginia, people were also mourning the loss.
Sympathy books donated by Oakey's Funeral Home have been on display at
Roanoke's Main Library.
People from all over Virginia and surrounding states filled 10 books and
left cards and flowers.

Mother Teresa was remembered today by Pope John Paul the second.
In a message he gave today to the nun's order, he thanked God for her life.
The Pope said she made "life's wounded experience the tenderness of God."
Mother Teresa died yesterday of cardiac arrest in Calcutta.
The Pope also held a private mass in Rome in honor of Mother Teresa and
later addressed thousands of handicapped and ill people attending a ceremony in
India's prime minister ordered a state funeral for Mother Teresa.
And, the Albanian government also announced today that there would be three
days of mourning for the nun, whose parents were Albanian.

Some American troops who served in Bosnia returned home today to the Roanoke
As Denise Allen reports, the soldiers were relieved that their eight month
stay in the war-torn country was over.

Attorneys for Paula Jones are urging her to accept President Clinton's offer
to settle her sexual harassment lawsuit--this according to published reports.

The settlement includes 700-thousand dollars and a vague apology
from Clinton for any damage done to her reputation.
The Times says the lawyers sent Jones two letters, one of which
described the terms as ``a total victory'' for her.
A spokeswoman for Jones says the relationship between Jones and
her attorneys has broken down over whether she should settle.
Sources say Joseph Cammarata and Gil Davis have already prepared
their motion to withdraw from the case.
They plan to file it in a Little Rock, Arkansas, court Monday.
President Clinton is the man without a face in Arkansas tonight.

A portrait of the President is missing from the state Capitol in Little
Arkansas's secretary of state says the painting was in its place Thursday
night, but gone on Friday morning.
Local police and the F-B-I are investigating.
The portrait was on loan to the capitol, awaiting the construction of the

A six-hour space walk ended in disappointment for the Mir crew.
American astronaut Michael Foale and a Russian Cosmonaut were unable to find
holes in the station caused by a collision with a cargo ship in June.
They'll try again with another spacewalk in October.
Astronauts from a U.S. shuttle will also try to find the damage during a
space walk later this month.
The shuttle will lift off September 25th, carrying repair equipment, and
Foale's replacement, astronaut David Wolf.
TAP or Total Action Against Poverty in Roanoke is making some changes these
days to boost development of low-income housing.
TAP Deputy Director Alvin Nash has resigned to take over as president of the
Blue Ridge Housing Development Corporation.
Nash has been in charge of housing programs for TAP. But now he'll work on
