learned investigators have already communicated with the sole survivor, perhaps
beginning to fill in the gaps surrounding the crash.
Two and half weeks after the accident there still are many gaps. It's a
fact that Diana and Dodi Al Fayed landed at this suburban Paris airport at
3:20pm that day . It's been said they came here to escape the paparazzi.
It's not known who tipped off the press, but the photographers were waiting.
With Dodi's regular driver, the couple gave paparazzi the slip, briefly
touring the Duke and Duchess of Windsors villa, now owned by Dodi's father.
Henri Paul continued to Dodi's apartment off the Champs Elysees, dropping off
the luggage.
It's a fact that between 4:30 and 7, the princess had her hair done at the
Ritz... and Dodi picked up the 200-thousand dollar ring he'd ordered for her
from this nearby jewelry store.
At 7 , the couple returned to Dodi's apartment, and Henri Paul went off duty.
Dodi had made an 8:30 dinner reservation at this bistro, but its glass front
offered no privacy, they returned to the Ritz. There were no smiles as a
tense-looking Princess and Dodi entered the hotel. After ten minutes, curious
stares from other diners drove them from the hotel's public restaurant to room
service in the imperial suite.
CBS News has learned that investigators are stumped as to Henri Paul's
where abouts from 7pm until 9:45, when he was called on his cell phone to
return to work. They know that near 10 o'clock, he picked up his little
black Austin Mini at his apartment, stopping long enough at this
neighborhood bar to say he'd be in later. He never made it. ))
