It basically involves automating certain parts of the plant, which makes
material for cigarette filters and yarn for synthetic clothes.

The President's stance on the settlement means congress won't act on any
tobacco legislation this year.
Admitted Hitman Mario Benjamin Murphy was executed tonight- despite pressure
to spare his life.
The Mexican citizen was put to death by lethal injection at 9:09 tonight.
Murphy laughed and said he forgave his executioners as he drifted off.
Murphy took part in a murder for hire scheme in Virginia Beach in 1989.
But Virginia Beach authorities apparently didn't realize he was a Mexican
citizen, and did NOT notify the Mexican consulate of his arrest.
That's in violation of an international treaty--
The mexican government and even the Southern Baptist Convention missionaries
pleaded for Murphy's life.
His life story inspired the TV series the "Fugitive."
Today the body of Sam Sheppard was exhumed from a grave in Columbus.
Doctors took fifty samples of bone hair and skin.
It's part of his son's lawsuit to have Sheppard declared innocent for
the 1954 killing of his wife, Marilyn.

A leading maker of baby food is at the heart of a rumor making its way
around the Region.
The misleading information is apparently being filtered through the
internet, fax machines and even fliers.

Lisa Hackney knew the offer sounded too good to be true-- and she was right.
When her husband brought home a flier last week claiming "Gerber Products"
was sending savings bonds to children, born between 1985 and 1997, she
contacted the company and Better Business Bureau.

child's birth certificate and social security card to a post office box.
And, while officials don't believe there's any criminal intent behind the

One of the best known comedians of television's golden age has passed away.
Red Skelton entertained audiences in Vaudeville, radio, film and television
for over 60 years.
His Tuesday night show stayed in the Top 10 during the 1950's and '60's.
Best known for his characters Clem (Ka-diddle-hopper) Kadiddlehopper and
Freddie the Freeloader, Skelton said he just wanted to be known as a clown who
could "sing, dance and above all make people laugh."

Heather Sue Mercer has filed a sex discrimination lawsuit against Duke
