The mayor of Narrows estimates at least half of the town's labor force works
at what everybody there has always called the Celanese plant.
That's why word of some kind of restructuring there concerns him and many
others in the community.
Union leaders at the plant say Celco has alerted them that as many as 500
hourly jobs could be affected by some kind of cost- cutting move.
Right now Celco has about 13-hundred hourly employees.

jobs estimate is a ballpark figure.
