Movie Review
"The Game" is based upon a wonderful concept but it doesn't live up to its
potential. The story gets so complex and unbelievable that it looses whatever
suspense it might have generated.
"The Game" is a birthday present you don't want! Michael Douglas is Nicholas
Van Orton, a lonely financier who is more money machine than man. For his 48th
birthday his younger brother, played by Sean Penn, gives him an unusual gift.
Nicholas becomes part of a game, but he doesn't know the rules or who is
involved. As he continues to play everyone and everything becomes suspect and
it appears that Nicholas may not survive. Is it still a game or have things
become deadly? That question keeps Nicholas and the moviegoer involved.
"The Game" gets a B-
It has potential but too many of the twists, including the ending, are
predictable.
