In his opening statements, the prosecutor accused the N-B-C
sportscaster of severely biting a woman in a hotel room and forcing her to

military plane that crashed off the coast of Africa more than a week ago.
He was an Air Force Captain and pilot.

where his son was stationed.
He says he's waiting for news of survivors.
So far only one body has been found.

A fast- moving fire ripped through a Franklin county home.

The blaze started in the basement of the Hardy Road home and quickly
weakened the house.
The first floor started to cave in, so firefighters were NOT able to combat
the blaze directly.
Flames eventually burned through the roof.
The homeowner's girlfriend was in the house at the time. She was taken to
Franklin Memorial Hospital.
The Fire Marshal's office expects the home to smolder for a few days, so the
investigation probably won't be complete until later in the week.

A Virginia woman has settled out of court in her landmark discrimination
suit over the rights of pregnant women.

Lisa Bailey was supposed to tell her story to a Roanoke jury this week.
She sued her employer, the Scott-Gallaher company, when she was fired after
becoming pregnant.
She said they told her having a child would make her "unreliable."
A judge ruled against her at the first trial, but the Virginia Supreme Court
said the judge was wrong and ordered a new one.
