The Senate Finance Committee opens three days of hearings today into alleged abuses by the I-R-S.
They're expected to feature agents who say the agency unfairly singles out small taxpayers who can't fight back.
Another I-R-S practice that has caught the Senate committee's eye is whipsawing.

It would be nice to think that they all have a home, but America's animal shelters are a busy place. While they do the best they can to get animals adopted nationally only 25-35% of pets that go home with a new owner are kept for longer than a year.
15 million pets have to be euthanized annually.

In Utah, a man is dead this morning after killing himself following a shootout with sheriff's deputies.

Lisa Bailey was supposed to tell her story to a Roanoke jury this week.
She sued her employer, the Scott-Gallaher company, when she was fired after becoming pregnant.
She said they told her having a child would make her "unreliable."
A judge ruled against her at the first trial, but the Virginia Supreme Court said the judge was wrong and ordered a new one.
