U.S. government prosecutors also stepped up ready, they say, to
prove their allegations that 42-year-old Terry Lynn Nichols conspired with his
former Army buddy Timothy McVeigh to blow up the federal building in Oklahoma
City.
Nichols faces the same murder and conspiracy charges as McVeigh for his
alleged role as co-architect of the deadly bombing.

Nichols appeared stoic and relaxed, waving to his mother as he entered the
courtroom. Lawyers for both sides began questioning the first of hundreds of
potential jurors to select the 12 who will decide his fate.
The government hopes to prove Nichols purchased and stored
ingredients for the bomb, helped McVeigh stash his getaway car, and helped turn
this Ryder truck into a massive bomb.
But the case is far from air tight. Nichols was at home in Kansas
when the bomb exploded.

A Montvale woman has been arrested after allegedly holding up a Roanoke
convenience store and then returning the money, complaining it was not enough.
The woman, 37 year old Wendy Brickey, allegedly entered the store, bought a
soft drink and then pulled out a gun and demanded money.
The clerk handed over some cash but the robber returned it, saying there was
too little, and then left the store.
Police say Brickey is also wanted in a series of armed robberies in Roanoke
and surrounding counties.

The N-B-A's Portland Trailblazers have reached an agreement with center
Rasheed Wallace.

Wallace signing a six year contract with the Trailblazers. Financial terms
were not discussed but reports say its worth between 75 and 80 million dollars.
Wallace is entering the final year of a three year deal he signed with
Washington in 1995. He averaged over 15 points and seven rebounds for Portland

A beer company has found an unusual way to deliver a truck.

Icehouse beer dropped a 1952 Chevrolet pickup truck from a helicopter almost
900 feet in the air.
It was all a contest that had 72-finalists anxiously awaiting
the arrival of the truck via parachute.
When the two ton vehicle landed on a specially marked grid, eight contestants
won matching versions.
It took the truck 25 seconds to drop the
