Governor Allen landed a deal on his East Asian trade mission for a 28-million dollar expansion at what's now a truck tire plant.
The deal will enable Yokahama to begin manufacturing high- performance radial tires for cars and R-V's.

The deal also means Salem will get a new Yokohama distribution center... and an unspecified number of new jobs.

A neighbor with a garden hose helped save a trailer home from burning up this morning.
That's according to firefighters.

The blaze broke out at about 10:30 at the Terry Court trailer park in Lynchburg.
Neighbors spotted smoke coming from this mobile home and one grabbed a hose to keep the blaze contained until fire crews could arrive.
The family renting the trailer was not home when the fire broke out.
Fire Marshal John Jennings says an electrical short in the cord of a curling iron caught a chair on fire.
Damage was contained to the living room of the trailer.

After more than a month in a Paris Hospital, Jones was headed home to England.
He was then flown by medical helciopter to avoid the press.
Walking a little unsteadily he got a helping hand across the tarmac to another helicopter for the flight back.
Rees Jone underwent hours of surgery to treat his face and other injuries after the crash.
French investigators will question Rees Jones again in a couple of weeks.
