Two people were killed when two small aircraft collided in mid air- over
Moore County, North Carolina this afternoon.

Six more people were arrested today in last week's shootings at a
Mississippi high school.
Police in Pearl, say they're investigating a plot that led to the three
The six are being held at the county jail on conspiracy charges.
Already in custody-- 16-year old Luke Woodham--
He was arrested while fleeing the school Wednesday morning.
He's accused of walking into a courtyard area and shooting his former
girlfriend, and then turning his rifle on bystanders.
Two students died, seven others were wounded.
Police say a few hours earlier, Woodham allegedly stabbed his mother to
Rocky Mount's town manager resigned today-- and town officials aren't giving
any explanation yet.

The resignation follows last night's closed door meeting with the mayor and

The House has passed legislation which would cut the time it takes to get
new drugs and medical devices approved.
The Food and Drug Administration overhaul has been debated for two years.
The bill includes provisions for fast-track approval of some drugs.
And it gives physicians more flexibility in prescribing experimental
The Senate passed a similar bill last month.
The two versions still face some potentially deal-breaking conflicts.
Mental Illness Awareness Week continues...today, some interesting
Estimates are that two million school age children are suffering from
clinical depression-- a disorder that goes far beyond the blues.
No one is sure what's causing it, but the numbers are going up.
And so is the number of children being treated with Prozac and other drugs.
Almost 600 thousand prescriptions were written for children in 1996 -- a
70-percent increase over two years earlier.
But there is concern from some, worried about giving what's thought of as
an adult drug to children.
The F-D-A has not officially approved their use in children under age 12--
and is asking drug companies about their effects on the developing brain.

Doctors say about 44-thousand-women will die of breast cancer this year.
Since 1983-- 32 babies have drowned while in bathtub seats.
Safety experts are warning the public-- DO NOT LEAVE babies and toddlers
unattended in the bath.
The Consumer Produt Safety Commission says bathtub seats are NOT designed
to substitute an adult prescence.
And older babies can climb out of the seats.
So again-- do not leave your children alone in the tub whether you're using
one of the seats or rings or not.
NASA has come to the rescue of two little boys with a rare skin allergy.
The two brothers are allergic to sunlight...
so much that even light from a lightbulb can trigger violent reactions in Kyle
and Ryan Richards.
When the boys mother wrote to NASA asking for help, the agency sprang into
action, donating special space suits shielding the boys from potentially
deadly ultra-violet rays.
