Police say these six teenagers are part of a tightly knit group at pearl high
school, and were involved in last weeks killing spree that left 3-dead.
All six were charged late yesterday with conspiracy to commit
murder, and are now jailed on one million dollars bond each.
they were part of a deadly plot, police say, to kill students.
BILL SLADE/PEARL POLICE CHIEF:"I'M NOT GOING TO Y I'M SHOCKED. I'M JUST
SAYING, THIS WHOLE THING IS A TRAGIC
SITUATION. AND IT HAS ROCKED OUR COMMUNITY."
Five of the teenagers attend pearl high school....the scene last
week of a deadly rampage that left two students dead.
16-year old luke woodham is accused of killing the students...and
for allegedly stabbing is mother to death a few hours before the
shootings.
Police won't say just how the six teenagers are connected to the
murders...but the mother of delbert shaw, one of the accused, had
this to say...
JUNE GOODIN/MOTHER OF ACCUSED:"I KNOW MY SON DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH
IT...I DON'T KNOW ANY OF THE OTHER
CHILDREN WHO WERE, WHO WERE ARRESTED. BUT I DO KNOW THAT MY SON,
HE HAS NO VIOLENT STREAK IN HIM, WHATSOEVER. HE LOVED THESE
GIRLS, HE WOULD NEVER HAVE HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS."
But according to some reports the teenagers were a vicious group.
they not only were out to kill other students at the high school,
but reports say two of the suspects were also plotting to kill
their fathers.
Suggestions of cult activity were quickly shot down by one of the
suspects attorney's.
MERRIDA COXWELL/JUSTIN SLEDGE ATTY:"THERE IS, UH, RUMORS OF A CULT GOING
AROUND. SOMEONE HAS BEEN WATCHING TO MANY OLIVER STONE MOVIES. BECAUSE THAT
IS RIDICULOUS."
School is back open today...with teens trying to deal with not
only the death of two students, but with the arrests of several
others. art rascon, cbsn, pearl, ms.))
