The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to the International Campaign to Ban
Land mines.
The coordinator of the group, Jody Williams has been named a co-winner.
The group was first propelled into the limelight with the recent
death of its most vocal supporter, Princess Diana.
The winners were announced this morning in Oslo, Norway.
Last month in Oslo more than 90 countries drafted a treaty that bans
anti-personnel mines.
The United States did not sign the treaty.
