Bedford a reality after a making a one-million dollar pledge yesterday.

A Lynchburg jail inmate has committed suicide.
Authorities said Eric Lynn Ware hanged himself with a bed sheet yesterday
when he was left alone for five minutes.
A day earlier, the 27-year-old Ware had returned to the jail from a mental
health facility in Danville.
Ware was facing charges of assault, impersonating a police officer and
brandishing a firearm.
His evaluation was to determine whether he was competent to stand
trial.

Blacksburg, but police are not releasing their names.

at a plain clothes officer during a murder investigation in late August.
The officers were searching for suspects after a man was murdered on the
dance floor at Arnold's restaurant.

the uniformed officer who fired his gun.

Attorneys for Regent University founder Pat Robertson were in federal court
in Norfolk yesterday seeking the dismissal of a lawsuit against Robertson.
Two former law professors at the school contend that Robertson defamed them
in a letter that called them inept and said they had second-rate legal minds.
The letter also compared them to suicide cult leader Jim Jones.
The professors had been critical of the firing of law school dean Herbert
Titus.
