Blaine Hodges had nearly exhausted his appeals on an embezzlement conviction.
That would have left his wife and daughters home alone while he was serving time in prison.
Friends of the family were afraid of what might happen in Blaine's absence... especially since Earl Bramblett spent so much time at the Hodges home.
Keith Humphry says those fears came up today in Bramblett's capital murder trial.
