A Ferrum College student is dead following a traffic accident earlier this evening.
Shortly before seven, two students were involved in the accident with a tractor trailer on route 619 in Franklin county.
One student was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transferred to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Ferrum College representatives say both students are from Virginia Beach.
The students' names have not been release.

Today's vote was a victory for Greenway planners.

Less than 2 weeks ago, Rodman signed a deal with a base salary of 4-point 5 million with incentives that could push it past the 9-million dollar deal he had in 1996.
But Rodman is concerned about incentive clauses based on victories since Scottie Pippen will be out until January because of foot surgery.

Junior guard Tiffany Bower suffered a torn Achilles tendon in practice Tuesday and may be out for the season.
Senior guard Monick Foote suffered a stress fracture in her right tibia two weeks ago and has decided to redshirt this year.

The two-year old lab mix spends most of her day on the roof-- jumping from gable to gable and keeping a sharp eye on passing traffic.
Her owner, Bill Ferris, says she started climbing up on the roof as a puppy.
He tried to keep her off at first, but realized he couldn't keep the dog down because she liked it up there so much. 27 into bite
