Former N-B-C sportscaster Marv Albert will not be going to jail.
A judge today suspended a 12 month prison sentence.
Albert's sexual assault trial ended in his guilty plea on misdemeanor
assault and battery charges.
The judge has also ordered Albert to continue mental health counseling that
he had already begun.
The prosecution continues to present its case against capital murder suspect
Earl Bramblett today.
Three years ago when LOCAL police were trying to question Bramblett about
the Hodges murders he bought a gun.
Just two days after the bodies were found, STATE Police approved the
purchase in less than an hour.

Bramblett used the Hodges' home as HIS address on the firearms form.
He'd practically LIVED at the Vinton house, but it was uninhabitable the day
Bramblett bought a revolver.
State Police in Richmond approved the purchase in no time for lack of

is already starting to take the lead.

Republican Jim Gilmore comes out on top in our latest "NEWS 7 Mason-Dixon
poll" with 46-percent support among likely voters.
Democrat Don Beyer's 42-percent puts Gilmore's four point lead just outside
the margin of error-- making Gilmore the leader in this race.
Gilmore also came out on top in a poll released by The Washington Post.
In our poll, Gilmore has a 53-37 advantage with white voters.
Beyer has a 68-12 advantage with black voters... but NO Virginia Democrat
has won statewide office in modern times with less than 90-percent black
Doug Wilder declined to endorse Beyer in the midst of this poll.
Among men, Gilmore again has a 53-37 advantage.
Among women, Beyer has a slimmer 47-39 advantage.

Across the world, financial markets have been bouncing back, after Hong Kong
put an end to its hefty losses.
The Hong Kong market recovered much of yesterday's decline, leading most
other markets to advances, and opening the door for U-S stocks.
The trial of a British nanny accused of killing a baby in Massachusetts is
being watched closely in England. Louise Woodward faces more
cross-examination when the trial resumes on Monday.
Yesterday, she flatly denied abusing the baby.

A Philadelphia house fire that killed three women and two children this
morning is being treated as a homicide.
Authorities are looking into the
possibility that a firebomb started the blaze.
Some witnesses also reported hearing gunshots.
At least five other people were injured in the blaze, including a
Winnie Mandela confirms she will be the Keynote speaker at tomorrow's
Million Woman March.
Organizers in Philadelphia are working hard to pull everything together.
They told city officials they expect 500-thousand to take part in the two
mile march that begins at Independence Hall.
The rally will promote development of independent black schools, mentoring
centers for teen-age black girls and programs to help black women leaving
prison or entering business or politics.
Three Halifax County boys are suspended from school for the rest of the year
and facing felony charges after beating up another boy on a bus.
Both sides give the same version of what happened on Bus 5 Monday.
The bus pulled up to let 14- year- old Chris Easley out. Instead, Easley
attacked 15- year- old Daniel Morris.
Easley's 13- year- old brother Larry and his 17- year- old cousin tried to
jump on the bus from the road. Other students tried to hold the door shut.

Larry Easley says he was sticking by his brother -- but admits he was wrong.
Larry is under house arrest. His brother and cousin, who may be tried as
adults, are in detention centers.
All three face charges of malicious wounding, and two face trespassing
charges for jumping on the bus.

Stafford authorities are looking for a person who fired shots at four school
Investigators say a high-power B-B gun was used and at least one shot was
fired at each bus.
Some windows were shattered. Only one bus was carrying students -- and no
one was injured.
A homeowner shot a would-be robber this morning in Roanoke County.
Police say the intruder allegedly entered this house in the 67-hundred block
of Goff Road around 7-30.
A couple was home at the time and apparently the husband confronted the

His condition has not been released.
Police are still investigating the incident.

Franklin County officials hope to have a new shelter manager by January.
At the moment people can only adopt or drop off animals during limited
hours, but a new employee would allow the kennel to open on Saturdays.
Hours were cut back when a judge decided inmates should not work at the
shelter as part of a work release program.
County officials are working with the court and sheriff's office to get the
work release program back.
