A single-engine plane was left dangling in tree limbs after crashing in rain
and fog today near Skyline Drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The accident happened near Stanardsville which is north of Charlottsville.
Officials say one man, possibly
the pilot, was killed-- he's believed to be the only person aboard the plane.
His body was found beneath the wreckage.
According to police the plane was a four-seater Cessna registered in
Authorities have ``not'' identified the victim.
Roanoke Mayor David Bowers is hoping this weekend's Amtrak excursion from
Roanoke is a sign of things to come.
The National Railway Historical Society organized the trips to Bluefield,
West Virginia and Luray, Virginia.
More than 12-hundred riders took advantage of the opportunity.
It was the first excursion on Norfolk Southern tracks since the retirement
of the old 6-11 steam engine nearly three years ago.
This weekend's trips sold out quickly.

The Mill Mountain Zoo is trying to start a breeding program for Siberian
And, now it's making preparations to launch another round of fundraising for
Ruby has been a favorite of zoo visitors since she came to Mill Mountain in
the late 80s.
Few siberian tigers remain in the wild, and Zoo officials hope to establish
the premiere captive breeding program in the country.
