One day after U-S stocks lost 600 BILLION dollars in value a big turn around
on Wall Street.
The Dow, which started the day with a decline of 180 points, suddenly
bounced back.
At noon its UP 88 points.
Meantime, the downward spiral is continuing for many of the global markets.
Hong Kong's market closed with a drop of almost 14-percent and Tokyo's
Nikkei market lost more than four percent.
European markets also suffered big losses.
As the U-S stock market works to recover from its record sell-off President
Clinton is emphasizing the strength of the U-S economy.

Pittsylvania County authorities arrested a 29- year- old man in connection
with the shooting death of his wife.
Sheriff's officials say Mark Turner is charged with murder.
He is being held without bond.
Kimberly Turner was shot to death about early this morning at the couple's
home.
An investigation is continuing. Kimberly Turner's body will be taken to the
medical examiner's office in Roanoke.

The Virginia Supreme Court agreed to review a Bedford County judge's ruling

Soering was convicted in 19-90 for the murders of his girlfriend's parents.

Arlington Democrat, Ira Lechner. Lechner lost, but Beyer was hooked.

Governor's Race. And after Baliles' election, was appointed to the Commonwealth
Transportation Board.
