SUPER=59-Mike Stevens;
Welcome everybody to Friday Football Extra and our annual Halloween show.
Believe it or not - I'm your host Mike Stevens.
The last time Halloween hit on a Friday night was back in 1986.
That night Joel Hicks got a reprimand from the VHSL for some remarks he made
concerning officiating LIVE on this program after Salem beat the Cougars.
Tonight we have 15 games for you and lots of surprises.
MIKE REMOVES CAPE
SS=SALEM/C'BURG
And let's begin in Salem where the Spartans looked to eliminate one of the
middle men in their drive to the playoffs, the surging Christiansburg Blue
Demons.

VO-NAT eng#
SUPER=51-Salem/Christiansburg vs. Salem; :00
The fans in Salem didn't let us down tonight as they got the memo to dress
out in the proper attire for the night.
The Salem players seemed to be in a hurry to change into their costumes, as
well. On their second play from scrimmage Andy Mullins races up the Spartans'
sideline for 26 yards all the way to the Demons 3. That setup the first score
of the night.
The Spartans would waste little time in striking again. Chris Stuart
plunges in from the one yard line making it a 14-to-nothing
The Blue Demons tried to jump start their offense, but Salem's Trey
Shifflett

picks off the pass on the 31 yard line and it would set up another score.
Salem continues to play wicked defense as it rolls to a 47 to 7 win.

with slumping Alleghany, a team that had dropped two straight in the league.

VO-NAT eng#
SUPER=51-Alleghany vs. Northside; :00
With Northside leading 14-to-nothing to start the second half, coach Hickam
warned the Vikes to look out for the proverbial rock in the trick or treat bag.
It seemed that VIkes did get all the treats as Xavier Cargile scores from
six yards out to make it 21-to-nothing.
But the Mountaineers had a few tricks of their own for the Vikings. Shannon
Johnson hits Shawn Moss on a seven yard scoring strike. The Mounties cut the
lead to 21-to-8.
On their next possesion, the Mounties cap a 37 yard drive with another
Johnson to Moss TD. It's a 7 yard score and it's suddenly 21-to-14.
Alleghany would score its third unanswered TD on this Johnson run down the
side. The Mounties tie it at 21-all.
SUPER=52-Alleghany/21/Northside/27;
Northside's offense would pull off the final trick of the night, as Cargile
breaks free up the middle and scores from 19 yards away.
The Vikes win a wild one 27-to-21.

to change that in third with a 38 yard field attempt. But it is blocked by the
